That’s What We’ve Been Doing.

 

That’s what we’ve been doing all this time,

We have been lured

By the sweet music of the morning

By the promise that to morrow

Will be different

And that each encounter

Would be new

And would bring with it

A new beginning

A new world.

 

That is what we have been doing

All those years

Learning one more way

How to trick ourselves

Into believing.

 

It was like watching a movie

In which we were protagonists.

 

And then we learned

That there was nothing more to it

Than the show.
